Quick Help

Captionizer is built to make online captioning easy. Captioning can be tedious so we strongly encourage you to use the keyboard shortcuts to help ease the pain and speed up the process.

Basic interactions

  • Caption segments can be inserted through "Insert at Cursor", "Insert Last", and Add using drag-and-drop motion.
  • Each segment can be moved and resized.
  • Click on the text to activate the inline text editor.
  • Drag the yellow bar to pan through the entire timeline.
  • Click and Drag on blue User Cursor to scrub through time. However, due to a limitation of YouTube player, we can't provide you an accurate seeking point.
  • Adjust the Zoom level if you want to be more precise.

Playback and Timeline Controls
Play or Pause the current movie Button Space bar
Play the movie from the current position of the User Cursor
(the time cursor will jump to the nearest keyframe before the User Cursor)

Pan the timeline view forward or backward Buttons Left or Right arrow

Editors
Insert new caption segment at after the last caption segment Insert Last Insert
Insert new caption segment at the Cursor position Insert at Cursor Shift + Insert
Add new caption segment anywhere on the timeline. Add Drag the Arrow Icon and drop on the track
Active text editor for the last active caption segment shortcut only L
     
The changes in the start time and duration of the current caption will be applied to all subsequent caption segments. Ripple Move R
Undo previous action. You can undo up to 50 times Undo Ctrl + Z
Save the current draft Button Ctrl + S
Publish the current version of the caption Button Ctrl + Shift + S
